Brand Photography Membership in Stockton | Nicole Hodgson

There’s a message I get from brand clients that I can almost set my calendar by. It shows up about six months after their session, and it usually starts with something like, “So, I did a thing.” She cut eight inches off her hair, or she finally launched the program she’d been sitting on for two years, or she signed the lease on her own studio and the photos we took in her old office don’t make sense anymore. Then comes the part that makes me a little sad for her. She loves the images we made, and she’s already stopped using half of them, because they show the woman she was in the spring instead of the one running her business now.

I used to hear that message as a sweet update. Now I hear it as a pattern, and it’s the reason I built the 2027 Brand Membership, a brand photography membership designed to keep up with you for a full year. If you’ve ever looked at your own website and felt like it was introducing someone you used to be, this one is for you. I’m going to walk you through why one session a year stopped making sense for the women I photograph, how the membership works, and how to tell whether it’s the right fit for your next twelve months.

Why one brand session a year stopped making sense

When you’re growing, your business doesn’t sit still long enough for one photo session to carry it for a year. I know this because I live it. I book my own brand shoots at least twice a year, and even then there are months when my content feels a step behind who I’ve become. If that’s true for me, and I’m the one holding the camera, it’s true for the therapist expanding her practice and the aesthetician opening a second treatment room.

The photos from your last session aren’t wrong. They’re accurate to a moment that has already passed. Your offers changed, your space changed, maybe your whole direction changed, and the people finding you online can feel the gap between what they see and who they meet when they book with you, even if nobody ever says it out loud.

That gap costs you more than most business owners realize. When someone finds you on Instagram or clicks over to your website, your photos make the introduction before you ever get the chance to. If those images are introducing an older version of you, you end up spending your discovery calls explaining who you are now, when your photos could have done that part for you.

How often should you update your brand photos?

This is one of the questions I hear most, and my honest answer is more often than you’d guess. For a woman who is the face of her business, I recommend fresh images at least twice a year, and more if you’re launching something, rebranding, moving into a new space or changing how you work with clients. A full brand session once a year gives you a strong foundation. Smaller sessions in between keep that foundation current.

Here’s a simple way to check where you are. Scroll your own feed and website and ask yourself whether the woman in those photos would recognize the business you’re running today. If your hair, your offers, your pricing or your location have changed since your last session, that’s your answer. The other sign is avoidance. If you’ve caught yourself skipping a post because nothing in your photo library feels like you anymore, your old images are costing you more than a new session would.

You don’t need a full day of production every time something shifts. Most of the time you need a handful of new images that match your new chapter, planned around what’s coming next. That thinking is the whole reason Brand Refreshes exist, and they’re the heart of the membership.

The real reason you keep putting off your next session

The problem underneath that problem is money and decision fatigue. When every session is a separate, upfront investment, you wait. You tell yourself you’ll book after the launch, after the holidays, after things calm down, and things don’t calm down. So you keep posting the same twelve photos and feeling a little less like yourself every time one goes up.

You already make an endless number of decisions for your business every week. Whether you get to look like your current self online shouldn’t be one of them. A membership takes that decision off your plate. The investment is spread across the year, your sessions are already part of the plan, and when your business shifts, you simply book the session that’s waiting for you.

I’ve watched this play out with my family clients for years. When the session is already theirs, they stop asking whether now is the right time and start asking which date works best. I want that same ease for the women I photograph for their businesses.

What the 2027 Brand Membership is

The Brand Membership is a 12-month way to work with me that keeps your images growing alongside your business. Every member starts with a full Signature Session. We plan it together on a pre-session strategy call, I build you a customized shoot plan, and I give you full creative direction the whole way through, so you never have to wonder what to do with your hands. Hair and makeup is included, we can shoot at up to two locations, and you walk away with 65 images and 15 video clips that tell your brand story.

From there, you add Brand Refreshes through the year. A Brand Refresh is a one-hour session at my studio in Stockton or on location (travel fees may apply), and it includes 15 images plus video clips. It’s built for the moments your business changes, like a new launch or a move into your own space, so your photos change with you instead of falling behind you.

You pay monthly instead of all at once, and you decide when your sessions happen. Want your Signature Session in February before a spring launch and a Brand Refresh in September when you open your new space? You can plan it that way. All membership sessions are scheduled Monday through Friday during the day, which is how I keep the calendar steady enough to give every member my full attention.

The three collections: The Spark, The Shift and The Transformation

Every collection is built on the same foundation, so you always know what you’re getting. The difference is how many times you want to refresh your images across the year, and how much styling support you want along the way.

  • The Spark: your Signature Session plus one quarterly Brand Refresh
  • The Shift: your Signature Session plus two quarterly Brand Refreshes, with a color analysis from my stylist
  • The Transformation: your Signature Session plus three quarterly Brand Refreshes, with a color analysis and a styling session from my stylist

Members also get 15% off my education and events, additional Brand Refreshes and family sessions. Full pricing for each collection goes to the waitlist first.

Who the Brand Membership is for

I built this for ambitious, intentional women who want 2027 to be their biggest year yet and know their business is going to keep moving. Therapists, coaches, realtors, aestheticians and wellness professionals are a natural fit. So is the woman starting something brand new, as long as she knows she’ll use her photos and wants them to keep up with her as she grows.

Time in business isn’t the deciding factor. What matters is that you show up for your business consistently and you’re tired of your photos lagging behind the work you’re doing. If you’ve been sitting on a launch, a new offer or a new space because your images don’t match it yet, the membership was made for that exact feeling.

The Signature Session is for you as an individual, so the membership isn’t designed for team or staff photos. If you need images of your whole team, a custom session is a better fit, and I’m happy to talk that through with you separately.

Why I trust memberships (and why I built this one)

I didn’t come up with this on a whim. I’ve run a family photography membership since 2023, and I’ve watched what happens when people stop having to decide, every single time, whether they’re going to invest in themselves. They show up more. They plan ahead. They stop waiting for the perfect moment, because the moment is already on the calendar. My family members come back season after season without me having to sell them on it again, and I want the women I photograph for their businesses to have that same steadiness.

Before I ever picked up a camera, I spent about a decade as a therapist working with children in crisis. That work taught me how much safety matters when you’re asking someone to be seen. A membership gives us time to build it. By your second or third session together, you’re not wondering how to stand or what to do with your face. You know me, I know your business, and we get to spend our time making images instead of warming up.

I’ve also learned that a membership shouldn’t feel like a discount rack. I built this one to be the premium way to work with me, with clear terms so nobody is guessing. It runs for 12 months, every collection sits on the same Signature Session foundation, and the boundaries around scheduling are what let me show up fully for every member.

How to choose your collection

Before you pick a tier, look at your next 12 months. Write down what you already know is coming, like a launch, a website refresh, a new service or a busy season, and count how many times you’ll want fresh images to go with those moments. That number usually tells you which collection fits.

Most women choose The Spark or The Shift. The Transformation is for the woman who knows she’s heading into a year of steady change and wants new images every quarter to match it. Whichever you choose, plan your Signature Session first, then space your Brand Refreshes around the moments your business will shift.

If you’re torn between two collections, think about what would bother you more in October: wishing you’d had one more session, or having one you didn’t need. Most of my clients know the answer as soon as I ask.

Join the waitlist

I’m opening 10 spots in the first round. Waitlist members get the full details and pricing for every collection first, along with first access before spots open to anyone else. I’m opening early in November for members who want their Signature Session in January or February, then again in January for the rest of the year.

If you’ve been putting off your next session until things settle down, I’d love to give you a different option.

Want to build a membership for your own business?

Every time I talk about my membership, a business owner asks me how I set it up. Therapists, coaches, aestheticians, trainers and photographers all want to know how I priced it, what my contract says, how I track who has used what, and how I filled it without feeling pushy.

So I put it all in one place. The Membership Method is a self-paced kit for service-based business owners who want to create, price, contract, launch and run a membership, based on the system I’ve used since 2023. Inside, you’ll find a marketing runway that tells you what to talk about in the weeks before your launch, step-by-step setup for your Flodesk waitlist form, workflow and nurture sequence, a ManyChat keyword-to-waitlist setup so people can join straight from your DMs, and the Launch Copy Pack, so you aren’t staring at a blank page when it’s time to write your emails and posts. If you’d rather have me in your corner while you set it up, you can add a one-hour Membership Strategy Call where we work through your pricing and structure together on Google Meet.

The timing matters here. If you start now, you can build your membership this fall, run your waitlist through the holidays and open your doors in early January, when your clients are already thinking about what they want from the new year.
